Do you work on location or in a studio?
A.I love to work outdoors in Seattle's beautiful parks and at the same time, good pictures can be made close to home in your living room or backyard.
I have a portable lighting set that I can bring on location when needed. Also, there are professional studios available to rent if the situation calls for it. Price will vary depending on the rental costs of different studios.
What should I wear for my portrait session?
A.My answer varies depending on the mood, location, and use of the photos. If you are updating your professional headshot, keep it simple with a nice neckline and solid color.
Every portrait session is different and it's pretty wonderful to see personality come through with individual fashion. I think a portrait not only represents the individual at the time of the photo shoot, but it becomes a time capsule that represents the year, the trend, etc. Choosing the right outfit takes consideration. For many portrait sessions, I recommend two outfits- one casual and then something special! I'm happy to discuss clothing, hair and makeup with you during our first meeting and again, it's really up to you!
For our family photo shoot, do we all need to match?
A.Again, what you wear is so individual and most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable. As for everyone dressing in matching sweaters, I don't usually encourage that but complimentary colors and a mixture of matching tones will give your family a sense of continuity. Matching family pjs is the exception to my rule!!!
I've never booked a professional photography session before. What should I expect?
A.During our first conversation- either over the phone or in person- we will set a date and time for the session, and we will settle on the price for the session. Most portrait sessions (headshots excluded) are about 90 mins. After the shoot, I'll spend time editing and creating an online gallery from which you can share, download images and order prints. The gallery will stay online for about a year.
For events, we will discuss venue, length of time, and settle on the price for my time, editing time and creation of an online gallery. Each event will be priced differently and I'm happy to work within your budget.
What types of events do you photograph?
A.From weddings, baby namings, family reunions, dance and theater performance, to sports action (believe me when I say that I've photographed a monster truck rally)- I've got you covered.
